Oxford Test of English
University of Oxford certified — modular, on-demand and retake-friendly.
The Oxford Test of English is a computer-adaptive test developed and certified by the University of Oxford. It reports results on the CEFR scale (A2–B2, with the Advanced version reaching C1), which is the framework most European universities use.
Its standout feature is modularity: the four modules — Speaking, Listening, Reading, Writing — can be taken separately and retaken individually. If your Writing result is a level below your target, you retake only Writing, not the whole exam.
Acceptance is growing, particularly in Spain, Italy and other parts of Europe, and among institutions that recognise CEFR certification directly. It is not a UK SELT, so it does not satisfy UK visa English requirements — check your destination’s rules first.
